About Families 4 Recovery

Having a relative or friend with alcohol or drug problems is often an extremely stressful experience which can put enormous strain on our physical and mental health, finances, social life and family relationships. These pressures are very hard to deal with alone and we may find that we need support ourselves in order to cope.

Families4recovery is a friendly, local self-help group for anyone who is affected by someone else’s alcohol or drug use. Respect for confidentiality is a priority. We try to remain positive, listening, empathising and looking at what we can do to support change and take care of ourselves.

Meetings are quite relaxed and there is no pressure to talk if you don’t want to. We are sometimes joined by a professional who can give expert insight into the issues which affect us or hear from us, how we are affected by our caring role and how services could be developed.
